(basic shape)
So, before I begin I have to tell you 2 things 1st, my names not Angela its Jonathan 2nd, I'm only 12 and 3 quarters old, so don't expect your amazing profesional artist, I'm just a kid so yeah. Today I'm going to show you how I draw eyes and im going to put it in a tutorial. I practice with eyes quite a bit and I think I can show some people how I do it.
For me, I think the most important factor in drawing is the basic shape. I feel alot of people miss that one important thing. It's like building a house without a sturdy concrete base. so making the shape really simple helps me. What I do with most of my drawings are these guide lines to create whatever it is that I'm drawing. starting simple is really important or everything is going to look all slurred together. So how I started the eye was to create a diamond with a curved bottom instead of the usual angular diamond with a big circle going from top to bottom, and this is where the fun begins.
(start basic shading and add eyelashes)
Now it's to the very obvious shading, the pupil is really dark the upper eyelashes are dark, the lower eye lashes are lighter than the upper ones. (not so obvious statement) And heres a tip to make the eyes look better, make sure that inside the iris you make lines that go outward from the pupil, like a ferris wheel. Take not of where the source of light hits where ever you are drawing and stick to that direction. I'll tell you now, the lower eyelashes are all scrambled so dont stay in one direction. You dont have to be very careful doing this, just make sure it doesn't look like a jungle. that is what I have to offer in this section.
(start more complex shading and
further details with eyelashes)
So with the eyelashes, just pay attention to what direction they go out in and you will be fine.
but the eyelid gets complex. You should be able to get the eyelid in a state to where it looks like the eyeball is sinking in the eye socket. the shading is really something you should study because its very difficult to explain where the depth of every tiny section is because I'm not personally talking to whoever is reading this. There is however some thing I can explain to you in shading eyes, there is a shadow beneath the eyelashes this probably is for protection against the sun. I think this is all i can cover in this section.
(Final touches)
Now its time to put all that you know about shading to the test. erase the lines you see on the part where the light shines, this gives it a gleaming more realistic touch to the drawing. At this point its more that you look at a photo of an eye than rely on the things that I'm telling you, and i wish you the best of luck and skill drawing eyes thank you.
